Welcome to Schoen Dairy Farm

Meet a Calf Your Classroom Can Adopt

I’m Farmer Melinda Schoen-Morrison, and I help operate my family’s third generation dairy farm in Oak Ridge, Missouri. Our family has been farming for more than 100 years and have been at our current location for around 50 years. We are proud to say that we are a 4th generation family farm and care for more than 350 cows.

One of the newest members of our herd is this adorable calf here. She doesn’t have a name yet, but if your classroom adopts her, you’ll get to name her and watch her grow with monthly photos and updates.

Like most of the other dairy cows on our farm, she is a Holstein, a breed that is known for their black and white spots. This little calf is curious and sweet and likes to eat quite a bit, which will help her grow big and strong.

If you’d like to adopt her for your classroom, click the link on the right. Once your adoption form is received, we’ll send you an adoption confirmation email that includes a photo of your calf and a video message from me.

Each month, we’ll send an email with a picture and update on your calf, along with fun, educational materials that help students learn about dairy farming and nutritious dairy foods.

Thanks for reading about our dairy farm and baby calf. We hope you’ll consider adopting her and follow her during her journey this school year.

With deep roots in Missouri agriculture, we are proud to continue the tradition of dairy farming and animal care across generations.

Caring for More Than 350 Dairy Cows

Milking happens twice daily, seven days a week, and each milking takes about 4 1/2 hours. By adopting a calf from Schoen Dairy Farm, classrooms can get a closer look at the work and commitment behind modern dairy farming.

Why Adopt a Calf for Your Classroom?

Adopting a calf is a fun and meaningful way to connect students with agriculture, dairy farming, and animal care. Through monthly photos, updates, and educational materials, classrooms can follow a real calf’s growth while learning more about where dairy foods come from and how dairy farmers care for their animals.

This classroom calf adoption experience helps bring the farm into the school year in a way that feels personal, educational, and memorable.
