Healthy Teeth, Healthy Me

St. Louis District Dairy Council is excited to help school nurses reach students with tips on building strong, healthy teeth for a lifetime. Every year in February, in celebration of Children's Dental Health Month, we offer a Healthy Teeth, Healthy Me resource for school nurses.

We typically provide a colorful dairy-themed resource for the school nurse's office, as well as promotional items for students. The kit is mailed in mid-January and is best suited for elementary aged students.  If you would like to order this resource, please complete the form at the bottom of this page.   Keep in mind that resources are limited and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Childhood is the most important time to build strong bones and teeth. If kids don't get the nutrients they need, they put their current and future dental health at risk.

The nutrients found in dairy foods, such as calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, and vitamin D, support the development of healthy teeth and oral tissue. Three servings every day of dairy plus plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains set the stage for healthy smiles.

Download the two PDFs below for more information about dairy and dental health, snack ideas, and the unique role of cheese in fighting cavities.
